CareerShift Access

Choose the path that matches your BYU status so you can create or access your CareerShift account without extra confusion.

What is CareerShift?

CareerShift helps you organize your job search, save job listings, find contacts, manage applications, and track follow-ups in one place.

Path 1

Current BYU Students

Use this path if you are currently enrolled and still have access to your BYU email address.

What you’ll need

  • Your BYU email address
  • The BYU CareerShift access code

Current student access code:

BYUAlumni18

Steps for current students

  1. Go to the BYU CareerShift page.
  2. Select Sign Up.
  3. Register using your BYU email address.
  4. When prompted for an access code, enter BYUAlumni18.
  5. Finish the form to access your CareerShift account.
Note: CareerShift may mention BYU Alumni during setup. Current students should still use their BYU email and the access code above.

BYU Alumni

Use this path if you have graduated and no longer have access to your BYU email address.

Before you start: Do not create a new CareerShift account with a non-BYU email until you have contacted BYU Career Services. This can help prevent duplicate accounts or access issues.

Why alumni have a different process

CareerShift access may require a BYU-affiliated email for verification. If you no longer have access to your BYU email, BYU Career Services can help you use a different email.

Steps for alumni

  1. Contact BYU Career Services before creating your account.
  2. Tell the front desk you are alumni and need CareerShift access using a non-BYU email.
  3. Wait for instructions before creating or updating your CareerShift account.
  4. After your email is approved or confirmed, follow the instructions provided by Career Services.
